Our history
Welcome to Bar Orellas, a landmark of gastronomy and tradition in the heart of Ourense, one of the area's most emblematic establishments. Located in the iconic Plaza do Ferro, in the heart of the historic center of the city of As Burgas, this bar has been a meeting point for locals and visitors for over 70 years. This establishment has established itself as a landmark in the monumental area and, for many, is the starting point of the city's famous wine route.
Birth
Founded in 1953 by brothers Claudio and Manolo, Bar Orellas began as a tribute to a good friend and, initially, as a temporary tavern on the ground floor of the Teatro Principal. The original idea was to offer a good Ribeiro accompanied by something simple, and thus, by pure chance, the dish that has accompanied its history was born: pig's ears. An unexpected success that, over the decades, has established itself as the house's signature dish.
Evolution
Over the years, we've expanded our offering by incorporating other traditional Galician products, always with the quality and special touch that characterizes us. Highlights include ham and pressed capucha, which, along with pressed octopus, have become essential parts of our menu. Today, with the third generation at the helm, we remain faithful to our roots, while innovating to always offer our customers the best.
